Ash Ra Tempel was a German rock group, founded in August 1970 by Manuel Göttsching and Hartmut Enke, who had a blues band named "Steeple Chase Blues Band", and Klaus Schulze, who had just left Tangerine Dream.

Ash Ra Tempel featured revolving members with only Manuel Göttsching remaining constant. Eventually Göttsching retired the use of the Ash Ra Tempel name after he became the sole remaining member. He later began using the name "Ashra" or his own name for his solo output. Ashra eventually evolved into a full band and continued along with Göttsching until today.
